Team project for Apple Hackathon (2nd place)
Bill splitting is a headache when there are many people and not all items are shared. Though they are apps in the app-store for bill splitting, they require users to manually enter all items. This is tedious and a horrible user experience. We built Proportionate to simply this task.
One user opens proportionate and takes a picture of the bill. the bill is recognized by an OCR and a unique code is generated for that bill and sent to the user. The user then selects the number of people to split the bill and send each of them the id through Airdrop
A user opens proportionate and takes a picture of the bill. The bill is recognized by an OCR and a unique code is generate for that bill from the server. The user then selects the number of people to split the bill and sends each of them the id through Airdrop.
The app opens up on a person phone once they receive unique id that was shared through Airdrop
A users selection is in red while other people sharing the same bill have selection in purple, this way everyone knows that all items are selected.
If an item is selected by multiple people. Then that item is split equally among them. Once everyone is done with their selections each person gets the amount they need to pay, and a option of adding a tip.
